1929The 3rd annual McIntosh reunion was held at Lacey-Keosauqua State Park, Keosauqua, Iowa, on August 11, 1929. The date set for this affair should have been the second Sunday in September 1929 but was later changed on account of the visit of Iva McIntosh Lewis, of Arizona, who could not stay until September for the reunion, for she had to start on her return trip home on September 1st. The day was a beautiful one, and the committees were on their jobs early. Grounds and Water committee, Wyatt McIntosh and Harvey Brewster; Coffee committee Will McIntosh; and Serving committee, Edna McIntosh and Lola McIntosh, were all present. Tables were arranged with flowers and loads of many good things to eat. The afternoon was called to order by President Dan McIntosh of Milton, Iowa. Officers were elected for the year 1930 as follows: Dan McIntosh, President, Minnie McIntosh, Secretary, Leslie McIntosh, treasurer. The committees appointed by the president were reception and coffee committee, Morris McIntosh and wife Nelle, assisted by Oscar and Edna Thomas; water committee, John McIntosh. The same entertainment committee consisting of Mae McIntosh, Hubert and Hallie Slinn, and Clara McIntosh was asked to serve again. A report of cash taken in during 1928 was given as $3.90 by donation; at this meeting the amount of $4.60 was taken in also, making a total of $8.50 on hand. Bills presented as follows: coffee 60 cents, also milk and cream 60 cents. A motion was made and seconded to pay these bills. Motion carried and so ordered. After paying the bill, the total amount on hand being $7.30. The coffee was furnished by Henry Field and ice furnished by the water committee. The place to hold the 1930 reunion was voted on to be at Farmington State Park. Date, second Sunday in September, subject to changes. The business meeting being over the afternoon was turned over to Chairman of the entertainment committee and opened by the song “America.” Readings were given by request, “Backward turn Backward” by Mrs. Phoeba Madden, vocal solo by Iva Lewis, reading by Dana Helen Werts (daughter of Margaret McIntosh Werts). Also a reading by Jean McIntosh (son of Dr. F.W. and Mae McIntosh), and another reading by Margaret Helen McIntosh (daughter of Will and Minnie McIntosh). Stories of pioneer days were told by Cassie Barker and John McIntosh. Some very interesting things were related to the younger generations in these talks, which told them of how the pioneer McIntosh families came to Iowa and what they did in the early days. A string quartet was on hand to furnish music, consisting of Hubert Slinn, violin; Harry Kinnersly, mandolin; Cyrus Winters, banjo; and Ben Dickson, guitar. Mrs. Adam Gephart was presented with an old time dulcimer, which she has played on as a small child, and her music was very much enjoyed by all, as was the entire program, which was given a rousing vote of thanks. Following this, old time songs were sang by those present, and the happy day came to an end as each family gathered together for their homeward journey, with good-bye to all until the meeting in 1930. 1928The 2nd annual McIntosh reunion was held at the Farmington State Park, in September 1928, and the reception committee, Morris McIntosh and wife, were there early to receive and welcome all McIntosh families and friends. The morning hours were spent in finding out who was present and extending a hearty handshake to each and everyone present. Then came the wonderful dinner. The tables were decorated with beautiful autumn flowers and heaps of fried chicken with all the trimmings. The coffee was furnished by Henry Field, and all voted it a to be a very good coffee. The afternoon was called to order by the president, Dan McIntosh, reading of the minutes of the last meeting was had and they were approved. The election of officers followed: Dan McIntosh re-elected President and Minnie McIntosh for secretary. Committees appointed were: Wyatt McIntosh and Harvey McIntosh, Grounds and Water, Coffee committee, Will McIntosh and Lola McIntosh and Edna Thomas to serve the same. Entertainment committee: Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Slinn, Mae McIntosh, and Clara McIntosh. A short history of the pioneer McIntosh families was to be given by Cassie McIntosh Barker, but sickness kept her away. Hence, Morris McIntosh gave a little history of Farmington, which was very interesting. A Photographer was on hand and took pictures of the group at one dollar each. A refreshment wagon was also on the grounds, and the kiddies as well as the grownups enjoyed the ice cream, etc. The oldest person present was Charles McIntosh of Milton, Iowa, being 75 years old, and the youngest being Merlin Thomas, aged 6 months, son of Arthur and Mary Thomas. A volunteer offering was taken to help take care of the next year's expense. Total amount taken in was $3.90. A vote for place of next meeting was taken and the decision was Lacy-Keosauqua State Park, Keosauqua, Iowa. Date was set for the second Sunday in September 1929. The rest of the day was spent in social time and song until good-bye was said until we meet again in 1929. Minnie McIntosh
1927The 1st McIntosh reunion was held at Lacey-Keosauqua State Park, at Keosauqua, Iowa, in September 1927. Organization by Dan McIntosh and Rae McIntosh Hoskin of Milton, Iowa. One hundred and five (105) attended this meeting, and officers were elected as follows: Dan McIntosh, President and Minnie McIntosh, Secretary. The Pioneer families were represented.
The happy hours were spent in getting acquainted with your kin folk, then good-bye until 1928 at Farmington State Park, Farmington, Iowa, the second Sunday in September. Minnie McIntosh |
