Clan McIntosh |
Name: Rodney Elder CommentsAs an Elder, I am proud to be a member of the McIntosh Clan. The Elders have quite a history themselves having evidently emigrated to Ireland, then on to America. Most of the Elders can trace their heritage back to the County Atrium in Northern Ireland. We have not been as successful in tracing our original Scottish roots. Name: Tom Arnold CommentsInfo needed on William McIntosh/McIntush family, on 1820 census in Williamsport, Maury Co. TN. Had wife, Judy ?, two daughters under ten, Nancy and Malinda, two sons under ten, Abner and John. Had several more children, Beverly ( a male), Aaron, and James, before leaving for Sullivan Co., Indiana about 1829. William McIntosh was born around 1794 in either VA or NC. Aaron McIntosh in a letter written in 1864 during Civil War mentioned Maury County as a place he fought for the Union Army and said "it was where we grew up". Tom Name: Murray Brian McIntosh CommentsFurther to my earlier message, John McIntosh was born 17 or 19 May 1867 at Big Brook Nova Scotia. He was the eldest child in the family, and his siblings were: Alexander (Alex) Jennie Maggie Kate Hughie Laura The girls, Jennie, Kate, Maggie and Laura moved to Boston to work. John trained as a blacksmith in Nova Scotia. John and Alex apparently worked in a mine near Denver prior to John marrying Isabella McLean in Spokane in 1906 John died 17 July 1955 in Edmonton. His children: Ella, born in Phoenix BC in 1907, died in Edmonton in 2003, the day after her 96th birthday. Wilson, born in Edmonton in 1914, died in Edmonton in 1971 at the age of 56. I have been through the entire clan guest book, and also I have purchased a "book" which turned out to be a disjointed, confusing compilation of McIntosh information. Also Peter McIntosh, year of birth unknown, married Jane Fraser in Stormont, Ontario, 1798. I also have an Isabella McIntosh, wife of John Grant.
