Name: Peggy Thompson Commentsgreat-great grandfather was Robert McIntosh, born in Pictou, Nova Scotia and died in Newport, RI early 1900s. He was a stone mason in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Yantic, Conn. and finally Newport, RI. He built Williams Mill in Yantic; St. Mary's Rectory, Tennis Hall of Fame and Lenthal School in Newport among other buildings and walls. Looking for information on William McIntosh, Robert's father who immigrated to Pictou from Scotland in 1800s. Name: Julie Munsell CommentsHi there Mackintoshes! I'm Julie Munsell, and I'm from the McIntoshes of Breathitt County, Kentucky: I'm daughter of Carolyn McIntosh (who was born Breathitt), daughter of Leonard McIntosh (born 1909 in Breathitt, died in California, USA in 1982), son of Edmon, son of Benjamon, son of Henley, son of Benjamin, son of William, son of Peter McIntosh from Scotland. My Peter is reported to have come to the US in 1775 on the ship Monima. I'm trying to track Peter further back in Scotland, but there are 2 stories I've found online: One says he's from Aberdeen, one from Glasgow. My grandfather Leonard told me when I was a child that he'd traced the family back to The Mackintosh of Mackintosh, one of the heads of Clan Chattan, but he didn't say which one, and after he died, no one could seem to find the genealogy paperwork he had compiled. I am wondering if anyone knows anything else about Peter's lineage in Scotland? I'd like to see if what my grandfather told me was true, that I'm descended from The Mackintosh of Mackintosh, as I think that would be pretty cool. I do know he had to get special permission to hang a replica of the coat of arms on his house wall, but he apparently did get permission because he was descended from The M of M, at least that's the story he told. I'm also interested in any information on Leonard's wife's family. She was Mabel America Anderson McIntosh, daughter of John J. Anderson and Eliza Ann Keene (also spelled Keen in Kentucky census records). I also know she had a brother named Redwine. I would like to know more about John and Eliza, particularly if anyone has any pictures of them. I think they were all from Breathitt County, Kentucky as well, as Mabel was born in Juan, Kentucky in 1915, died 1978 in California, USA. Hope to hear from other McIntoshes soon. Name: John Noble CommentsName: Betty McBride CommentsYou have a great web site. I am looking for George Washington McIntosh, born 1843 in Virginia. Died in Missouri in 1882. Name: Roberta Lincoln CommentsOur family genealogist could only track our family back through David Mackhomee in 1652 (Charleston, MA) whose name changed to Macomey when he married his second wife Esther Comey. However, she found that our family came from Vale of Alford in Aberdeenshire, Scotland - Originally from Clan McIntosh. The name morphed over time to MacThomas, to MacHome, to Mackhomee, to Macomey, and finally ended in Comee. I cannot seem to trace the family past 1652. I also know that this lineage included a James Maltman (married Christian Castor) from Scotland which may have come over to America in the late 1600's - early 1700's.
