Name: Jenny CommentsI've been researching my grandpa's geneology for a while. So far I've traced the Mcintosh's back to Peter Mcintosh who was born in Scotland between the years 1746-1760. He married Margaret Turner in NC(1786) and then moved to Virginia where they had William Mcintosh in 1790. William married Francis Franky Fugate and they had Benjamim Mcintosh(1819) who married Katherine Haddix. Ben and Katherine had Henley Mcintosh(1840) who married Nancy Johnson. By this time the part of Virginia they lived in had been made into Kentucky and the Mcintosh's ended up in Breathitt County. Henley and Nancy had James Mcintosh(1868) who married Martha Johnson and they had Walter Mcintosh in 1900. Walter Mcintosh married Alpha Combs and they had my grandpa, Virgil Mcintosh, in Breathitt County KY. However, I have not been able to find the parents of Peter Mcintosh. I believe he was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to America on the ship Monima. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

I'm interestred in hearing from anyone who may have a connection to us. My grandad's father was WILLIAM MCINTOSH born 29th August 1897. We think that he was born in Perth but we know that his family originated from Inverness. We know that he had brothers and sisters Jessie,Annie,Jean,George and Peter. AS far as we know most or all of them stayed in Perth. But if there is anyone out there that recognises these names as distant relatives of theirs please be sure to let me know. He married Margaret Charlotte Anderson on the 29th of December, 1899 in Glasgow. They immigrated to Canada in the early 1900's. They brought five children with them at that time: John McIntosh d.o.b. November 15, 1900; James McIntosh d.o.b. January 9, 1904; Margaret Smith McIntosh d.o.b. May 31, 1905; and Thomasina McIntosh d.o.b. October 18, 1906. It was shortly after Thomasina that they came to Canada. Three more children were born to them in Canada, they were: Muriel McIntosh (my mother) d.o.b. November 8, 1910; Charlie McIntosh d.o.b. November 8, 1912 and Gordon McIntosh d.o.b. January 18, 1914. My mother is the last of her family now and she is 89. George moved back to Scotland when he seperated from Elizabeth. George had a son named George Maxwell Mackintosh (note the name changed here with a "k"). He moved to Australia around 1946. My grandfathers name is Arthur Charles McIntosh born 1893 married to Carrie Schwarze, born 1891, after the first world war. Had 2 children Byron McIntosh born 1922 and Gregory McIntosh born 1928. Arthur's brothers and sisters names were Herbert,Mary,Thomas, James, William, Andrew,Peter, Ida, Neille, Andrew, Christina, Margaret to name a few all born around the 1880's. A family bible was found along with some diaries which named Christina, Eliza, Alexander, Peter, Joseph, Janet, Annie, Mary, Archibald, Marrion, Isabella, all born around the 1850's - 1870's although we don't know how these names fit into our tree. Many of Arthur's brothers were in WW1. There is also a reference in the diaries to a Ralph McIntosh who died in 1841. Any info appreciated.

As far as we can tell our clan started in Germany, Grandfather named Arthur Charles McIntosh served in 1st world war, and later moved to Timmins, Ontario. Some of the family moved to California and Brazil which we are having trouble locating. Arthur then married Carrie Schwarze and had 2 children Byron and Gregory. Arthur had many brothers and sister, most of the men were in the war at one time or another. Some of the names were Alexander, William, Margaret, John, Andrew, Eliza, Herbert to name a few. Also diaries and a family bible were found dated back to the 1880's but the names we just can't find out where they fit in. Love to hear from anyone especially from California McIntosh families.

(born 6/14/1780, died 11/11/1863) and they had one son that I know of - John McIntosh (born 1808 in NC) married Christina Teny Blanchard (born 1816 in KY) on Feb. 18, 1830 in Christian County, KY. I show they had nine children: John (dob abt 1833), Ward (dob abt 1835), Malinda (dob abt 1840), Murdock (dob abt 1843), Mahala (dob abt 1844 - married Fields B. Name: Sandy Thomson CommentsBrilliant website! My mother was Bessie Mackintosh of Laggan, Inverness-shire(died 1961). Her sisters Isabel (Niven)and Nana (Morgan) are still living. Her parents were Alexander (Sandy) Mackintosh and Maggie Ann Campbell. Sandy buried in Laggan 1952 and Maggie buried in Laggan 1981. They had another son Jimmy who died in 1960's. I haven't researched family tree yet although I live in the north of Scotland and work in Inverness. In my research I found some inconsistencies in the great grandmother (Ida Mae Mcintosh Stuart). I knew her when I was a child (early 1940's). She said she was decendent of the man that developed the McIntosh apple. Was from Canada, and her husband was a sea captain from Scottland. Her death certificate lists her parents as George McIntosh and Mary Link. Date of birth June 7, 1879 Date of death Feb 10, 1963.
