Clan McIntosh |
I was born in Ida Grove, Iowa. My father (Norman H.), grandfather (John William
McIntosh, Jr.), and Great-Grandfather (John William McIntosh) all lived in Ida Grove,
Iowa. I've heard, however, that my great-grandfather originally came from central Iowa,
and that his family came from the east prior to that. Can anyone help me track down my
family's geneology? Please e-mail me if you want more information, or have any to provide.
Thanks! Loch Moigh!

I'm 17 years old and live in Belgium. My grandfather was Scottish and married my
grandmother during the war. My dad never lived in Scotland nor England. But I still feel a
great band with everything English or Scottish, and I'm very proud of the fact that my
ancestors were members of the Clan McIntosh. As far as I know we're the only Mackintoshes
in Belgium, and it's fascinating to know how all our distant relatives are scattered all
over the world.
I found info on some McIntosh's that attended the same Church in Madison County, Ohio
that my McIntosh's help build in 1877 and the Church is still standing. I always heard by
my relatives there were 2 McIntosh families going to that Church at the same time, but now
I have proof this is so. Thanks for this site for all of us McIntoshes! Carole Wardles

My GGrandfather John McIntosh and his wife Catherine (Ryan) were married in 1870 in
Stirling, Scotland, and had six sons and a daughter; John William (1871), Duncan (1874),
Norman (1876), James (1881), Matthew Banks and Andrew Banks(1884), Thomas (1886) and Mary
(1889). Norman's descendents live in NZ and Andrew's in Australia. We are searching for
any family of John William, James or Matthew Banks McIntosh. After leaving Stirling about
1900 the family seemed to move to the Glasgow and Argyl area before some of the boys and
their mother came down under. I would be pleased to receive any information on the family.
Cheers John

Highlanders from Inverness, Scottland settled in Darien, Georgia in 1736. We have much
McIntosh history here. My son has become very interested in his Scottish background. Thank

Thanks.
This is a great homepage! I am a direct descendant of General Lachlan Macintosh who
fought in the American Revolution. I found this page while helping my Grand-nephew with a
homework project on our family heritage. This young man could claim several nationalities,
but the Scottish blood runs deep!
Hi, Everyone! I'm new to this genealogy thing, but excited to learn as much as I can.

Would love to find out more about my heritage. My father died before I got to meet him
and I don't really know anything about his side of the family. His name was John Milton
Mackintosh. I know he had a brother Earl Mackintosh, who was married to Edith Mackintosh.
They all lived in Northern California. Any help would be appreciated. Very cool website.
I've been looking for a page like this. My grandmother was Mary Isbel McIntosh; born,
we think, in Alexandria, Louisiana. Married to W. Hayes, 189?; widowed. Married L.
Mitchell. d.1914. A.J. Sava, Jr.
I loved finding this place!!! I had no idea there were so many McIntoshes in the
US.It`s been hard keeping track. It seems that John,James. Alex and William were very
popular names with the McIntoshes!!!!
My greatgrandfather was James Mcintosh, spouse: Emma Leona Wainwright. James came from
Scotland and Emma was from England. They had three children, one son: James (died at age
4), two daughters: Anna Frazier, and Jesse. Anna was my grandmother. I'm just now trying
to find out more information about James and Emma Mcintosh. James lived and died (Nov.
1943) in Massachusetts; Emma died in 1939(?) Anna died in December 1971. I enjoyed reading
the comments from others and look forward to researching my family. Thanks for being here.
I would be interested in finding out more about my linage. Perhaps someone can give me
some information. My father's name was John Hammond MacCartney and his father's name was
William MacCartney. My grandfather grew up in Gettysburg PA and attended Gettysburg
College. Perhaps, some of my relatives may be active in the MacIntosh Clan and can give me
some additional info.

business people, skilled-tradesmen, politicians - I would like to see Clan McIntosh
organize to promote the success and well-being of McIntosh's.

entry on Apr.4,1998. It's a great page and I hope that it continues.
Great site I am proud to carry forward my father's heritage, even if it is by default

Hello
I found that you were looking for Martha Spicer. I dont know if there is a relation
here, but I found a Pollie Spicer born 1864 and died 01/01/1940. Can you give any info on
that?
I have gone down through all the names but can not find one that I would be able to
identify as being part of my family. I have been told that my grandfather was born in New
York but whether that was the City or the State his name was John David McIntosh and he
moved to Peterborough Ontario Canada. He may have had the last name of Roderick and was
adopted by McIntosh. There is no one alive that can tell me this information. Is there
anyone out there that could get me started. Thanks
am amazed and appreciated the work you do to maintain this site. i traveled to
heirkmeir county new york to find the grave of william mcintosh and it had a willow tree
carved on it. Several other mcintosh stones had that too. We can't figure out why they did
that or what it might mean?? Any ideas??

back great memories and you can now count on me being a REGULAR visitor.

I have been researching my family history and thanks to this wonderful site have found
a cousin that knew me as a child. I am waiting for McIntosh info on a search in Ireland
and started looking into my husband's surname. I found that Wood has Scottish connections.
There is a Clan Wood home page but it has very little information. If anyone can give me a
bit more info on this please e-mail me.

Wow I'm actually related to somebody in a foreign country. I am going to Scotland this
summer with my grandparents I wonder were you are located in Scotland?
Son of Horace Samuel McIntosh, grandson of Samuel McIntosh and Clarice Rogers,
ggrandson of Samuel McIntosh and Nettie Zorger, all of Massillon, Ohio. I have the Zorger
genealogy in Ohio and Pennsylvannia, but the McIntosh line stops in Massillon. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
My grandmother was Effie McIntosh. Her brothers and sisters were: Angus, Neil A.,Donald
N.,Katie,D.Ross,Jean W.,Clara, Ewen, Margaret & Charles. They were all from Springton,
PEI. Their parents were Murdock McIntosh (1853-1922) and Mary Ross (1862-1921). If I have
the information right then Murdocks parents were Donald (1811-1907) and Margaret Martin
(1817-1904). I believe Donalds siblings were Alexander,Roderick & John McIntosh who
came over from Scotland to PEI with their father Lodevick McIntosh. If this sounds
familiar to anyone please help me to verify this. I love this site. Thanks.
The address for the MacLeod Pages in my prior note did not print. To repeat:

What a superb Web Site! You are to be congratulated--and perhaps even envied [although
we have a good one, too at ]! I have been researching the Scots heraldry cat connection
for a German friend [von Katten], who has understood there was a connection between the
two families. I am printing your history page and a color copy of the Arms of MacKintosh
of MacKintosh in the Innes "Scots Heraldry" to send to her. Should anyone know
of the actual connection between the two families, if you could E-mail same to me at the
above address, I will send it along to her. --Alexander C. McLeod President, Associated
Clan MacLeod Societies
I was taught from childhood to spell my last name with two slashes under the c and
wondered if anyone could tell me if this has any meaning.
Thanks for a great site. This makes me want to research my family!!
I apologize for taking up so much space with the same info, but I forgot to add the
rest of my email address on the first information. Louise McIntosh found on the 1855 and
1865 Saratoga Co, NY STATE Census. Already married with two children in 1850 so cannot
determine her parents. There are however two familys living in the same area. One about
her age and the other old enough to be her parents. Louise is also found in her daughter
Mary Emma Boyce Clarkes bible as her mother without any dates written. One son named
Stephen Henry TRIPP b 1850,in Saratoga Co and died in Cohoes, Albany Co, NY is buried in
Middleburgh Cemetery in Middleburgh, Schoharie Co, NY.;Mary Emma also entered his name in
her bible. one dau named Loretta born before 1850 and one dau Mary Emma BOYCE b. in
Bennington Vt 1866. Loretta's name is NOT entered in the family bible and I believe,
though I haven't proven yet, that she died young and before Mary would have kept a bible
record. I am descended from Mary Emma. I THINK, Stephen TRIPP married Angeline CLARKE,
also from Schoharie Co, NY . Mary Emma who was Stephens half sister, married George W.
Clarke from Schoharie Co, NY. I would love to hear from anyone that can give me further
information.

Very nice site and thank you Priscilla for sending me here today. I only know that
Louise McIntosh is my g g g grandmother because her name and relationship is marked in her
daughters bible. No dates. I have only found Louise living in Ballston Spa,Saratoga Co.NY
first under the TRIPP name. She had two children by him, Loretta and Stephen Henry born
1850 died 1893. I don't have any information about Loretta. Louise second daughter Mary
Emma BOYCE born in 1866 is my gr gr grandmother. She was born in Bennington, VT according
to the family bible that she kept. She has Stephens name in it, but not Loretta's her half
sister which leads me to believe that maybe Loretta was already deceased. I think that
Louise died @1878 in Saratoga Co, NY. Stephen is interred in Middleburgh Cemetery,
Schoharie Co, NY cemetery. Any further information about the above would be greatly
appreciated. There are a couple more McIntosh familys living in Ballston Spa,and Milton
towns, Saratoga Co, NY.I have their listings from the 1855 and 1865 NY State census.
Great page! Does anyone out their know the lineage of the Macintosh lairds of
Dunnackton/Dunauchton from the late 1600s on back? Thanks!
My great grandmother is Elizabeth McIntosh, the daughter of Arry (Ira)McIntosh and
Nancy Ann Russell. She was born in Breathitt County Kentucky in 1879. Most all of the
information I have comes from Clay County and Breathitt County Kentucky.
My mother's middle name was McIntosh. Her uncle, Norman E. McIntosh, married Hulda E.
Harrison (a sister of my grandfather) in the late 1890's or early 1900's in the
Pittsburgh, PA, area. Do you have any McIntoshes in PA? I list Murray as my family's clan
name, as it is a family name on my husband's side of the family. Our Murray's were
(mostly) from Nova Scotia, and before that from Scotland, I believe. We know that line
back to my husband's grandfather, William Vincent Murray. However, the popular country
singer, Anne Murray, has sent us her family tree, and she is about the 8th generation of
Murray's in Canada. She is from the Halifax, N.S., area, as was my father-in-law. We
haven't connected our dots yet - but will keep trying!
What a huge family! I am a decedant of the Georgia McIntosh's (Darien). We leap to
Colorado where my grandfather Bejamin Harrison McIntosh was an officer inthe US army, as
was my father Harold. My father was the eldest of 7. I am the youngest of 7 male
McIntosh's. We live mostly in California. When possible, we travel back to Moy Castle. I
haven't made the trip yet. I would love to talk endlessly to anyone who would care to talk
to me. My family is my history. Feelk free to sen dme email.
Just beginning my research into my family. I know I'm somehow related to Cheif William
McIntosh of the Creek Indians. That's not much to go on, I know. I just letting everyone
I'm out here.
Researching Grandmothers side of family. Looking for Great Grandmother Amelia McINTOSH,

I am looking for anyone connected to Helen MacIntosh. She was married to Josiah Shields
and lived at #8 or #20 Bedford Street, Glasgow, Scotland. She was born @1885 and married
Josiah November 14, 1899. (See her entry in the database of The Gathering Of The Clans
http://www.tartans.com) She was born in a town at the edge of the Highlands and she had a
brother who was a doctor and a sister who was a nurse.
Greetings cousins! I compete in the highland games sanctioned by the S.A.A.A., and I am
one of the few (but proud) that wear the MacKintosh tartan. for any info in competing or
just going to check out these great highland games and festivals, please feel free to
e-mail me.
Great info on your website. Looking to correspond with anyone having a knowledge of the

Hi there again, My GGG Grandfather & GGG Grandmother were Peter McIntosh (B.
October 3 1795 - d.1872) & Grace Holmes (B. January 29 1804 - d.1875) I'm still trying
to trace our part of the family, I think they were from the Highlands in Scotland, so if
any has any info, that would be great.
Hey there, Just thought I would check this out. I'm starting to check into my family
tree, so if anyone has any help? :0)
This is very interesting. As a displaced Scot. My Great Great Grandfather sailed from
Cambleton Scotlaand in 1770 aboard the barque "Annabella" and landed upon the
shores of Prince Edward Island in October of 1770. Hopefully by searching the pages of
this web site, I can cast a little light on his life in Scotland before coming to Canada

My grandfather was John Niece (?)McIntosh married to Lillian Begley born in the early
1900s, his mother was Mary Fox McIntosh and his sister was Isabelle McIntosh married to
Pete Riley all from around the Hazard, KY area. I have heard stories from my now-deceased
mother that the McIntosh "clan" of her immediate family were desended from two
brothers who went AOL from the British Army during the American Revolution and fled into
the mountains of North Carolina.
Hello, fellow clansfolk... I ran across this site (Nice job) looking for artwork from
the Scots. Also like to find something Celtic or Pictish. I have the crest and badge, but
still would likt to see more art. Why? you ask... I'm thinking that I'll incorporate the
clan badge into some sort of tatoo. Thanks for your help. Bob

Our son Eric D. told us about this site. Everett's Father was Charles E. who was born
to William and Helen McIntosh in Grafton, WVa. He was a coal miner there. There was
another son Everett. Upon Helen's Death William remarried to Viola who gave birth to
Harley,Wayne, Bernard, Donald, Betty, and Mary.(Not necessarily in that order) Most of this
family has settled in the Marietta, Oh area. Would appreciate info re the McIntosh branch
prior to William and Helen from Grafton WV. Thank you.
