Clan McIntosh |
Ancestor James N. McIntosh came over from Glasgow about 1805 to 1820, trying to pin him
down. Settled in Gloucester MA.
I have done some research on my mother's maiden name "Glenn". I
attended the Celtic New Year Celebration in Reno, and found that the name is listed as a
Sept. How do I find out more information, on how the two became together? I have been told
that I am part Scottish and want to find out more. If anyone can help please email me.
Thanks, Brian
Very interesting. Note that someone was going to Scotland June 30. Must be on the same
plane and going with cosmos as we are. see you in Glasgow

1801 hers about 1804 in Scotland their child Isabell McIntosh she married Hugh Watson b.

Donald and Isabell both his parents I have as a unknown Cameron and unknown McIntosh. They
resided close to Glasgow.
My family has traced us back to John Og McIntosh who fought with Terallton's troops
against Colonial forces in the Carolinas 1775. I would love to hear from anyone who has
info about same. I would also like to find internet wallpaper with McIntosh tartan
background and the coat of arms centered.
My Grandmother told me that her mother was a full blood Scot from Scotland. I've never
investigated the genealogy, but the first time I ever went to a Scottish fair, I knew I
was home. I went to our clan tent and was greeted by the nicest couple from Scotland I
have ever met. If anyone knows of any way to solidify the records of my past for me I
would be very grateful. All I would need to know is that my Great Grandmother was born in
Scotland. That would be enough for me.
As far as I know my family roots only go back a McIntosh being the ships carpenter on
one of the first immigrant ships to New Zealand in the early 1800's. He apparently me a
girl on the voyage and they were married on the beach when they arrived. The local Maori's
(native New Zealander's) cooked their wedding feast in the sand. If this sounds familiar
to any McIntosh's I would love to know more about where they came from and where they
went. I moved to Australia in 1989. (it's warmer here !!!) Love the site. good work
Greetings Clansmen and women My GGgrandparents William and Alexanderina (McLeod)
McIntosh came from Kilmuir in Skye. They used all spellings of the name. Does anyone else
have a connection to Skye? Email me if you have any information. I will share what I have.
Cheers John
Dear Mackintosh cousins, I have put on-line parish extracts concerning Macgillivrays in
18th century Inverness and Nairn. There are many Mackintoshes in these extracts. Please
visit site at http://www.mygale.org/~ancestor/dunlichity/index.htm and please, if you
recognize any one, please do email me as I am trying to follow-up these names. Best
regards, Jane

I came across this site when I was searching the web for research on the Art Deco
style. It's very interesting and was very pleased with the tartan background tile which I
have been looking for for ages. I even thought of scanning in my dads kilt!
My gr.gr.grandfather was Robert Mackintosh, born in Newton of Petty, 1799. He married
Margaret McDonald, b. 1803. They had four children, Alexander(1829), John(1831),
Robert(1833), and Margaret(1835). My gr. grandfather was John(1831), born Newton of Petty.
He married Jessie McGillvray, and they had one living son, John(b. 1871), who came to the
U.S. when he was about 20 years old. My great grandparents moved to Nairn, where my
gr.father was born. They lived at Clanchatton, 18 Albert St., according to his will.
Margaret married Charles Butler, from 12 Simpson St., Nairn. They had a son who lived in
Canada for a while. If anyone has any information at all about this family, would you
please get in touch with me? This is a wonderful web site, and I was very sorry when I
discovered that I had read the last letter!!

Isle. I have found four previous generations. If anyone has any information to add I would
like to hear from them.
Researching Angus McIntosh family. He is from S.Uist. Born abt 1790. Married Mary
McPhee. Their children are: Angus, Lachlan, Marion, Sarah, Donald, Neil (or Cornelius).
My connection with Clan Macintosh is through my great-great grandmother, Ann Glenn, b.
8 June 1866 in Paisley, Scotland; her father was Andrew Glen and her mother was Ann Craig.
I have no other information about her parents. Any help in this area would be appreciated.
(Would also like information about the Glen Sept, how it's connected to the Macintoshes,
etc.)
Hi, fellow MacIntoshes (Mc, Mack, etc.) My knowledge of my MacIntosh family tree is
extremely limited, because my father (Bruce D. MacIntosh, Sr.) did not know his father
(Ray MacIntosh). I do know that my father was born in Fergus Falls, MN, in 1930, and that
(probably) his father's father immigrated to this country in the late 19th century,
changing the spelling from McIntosh to MacIntosh, because he was "running from the
law." (Whether that is true or not, I don't know... but it makes for a good story).
If anyone has any connections to Minnesota MacIntoshes, or has a Ray MacIntosh in that
area (born around 1900) in their lineage... please let me know!
I attended the Highland Games in Costa Mesa Ca. on Memorial Day weekend and was
disappointed to find that there was no McIntosh clan booth this year. Does anyone know
what happened?
I am looking for information on the marriage of Allen McIntosh (b. Scotland-date
unknown. d. 1849 in Joliet, Ill) and Caroline Shipman. They were married Sept 22, 1824 in
Bridgewater,PA. They had one son, William C. McIntosh, but a family letter indicates that
there were four children. Great site!!
Love this site. My McIntosh line has been difficult to trace. My grandfather was Alvin
J. McIntosh b. Nov 26, 1907, White Cliffs, Howard Co., Ark. His father was Andrew J.
McIntosh b. Apr 7, 1874 in Arkansas. Andrew J. had a brother, William m. McIntosh b.
ca1860 in Arkansas. Andrew J. lived in Hempstead, Howard and Little River Co.'s Ark. Does
anyone know more about these McIntosh's?
Interested in hearing from McIntosh's from around the world.
I've been looking for the clan affiliation of my Mother's family. I know they
originally came from Scotland, then spent some time in Ireland before coming to America in
approximately 1774. From there, they intermarried with the Griffin family and dispersed
throughout North America.
Alexander "Darky" McIntosh came over to Canada approx. 1845 and settled in

Hi, just got started looking, so can't comment too much yet :) Looks good so far! I'm
hunting for a reasonably high-res 'Cat salient proper' for use in a personal publication
(I'm into digital imaging). I was born in N.Z. My father was born in Plocton, near Kyle of
Lochalsch in the Western Highlands. He only spoke Gaelic until he was 7. It'd be nice to
hear from some Scottish folk sometime! Craig

This site is just what I wanted! I started looking up my own clan history while
visiting England just last week, where I found lots of stores selling Tartans and such
from different clans. My uncle has been working on our family tree for a very long time,
and I believe he has made it back to the 1500s. If anyone would like a copy of this tree I
could probably find it and scan it, to see if some of our paths cross.. (This tree traces
us back to the McIntoshes)
My Grandmother is Ellen Turner (formerly McIntosh) from Ft. Thomas KY.She has many

Love the web site! I am just beginning to start a search for my family heritage and
would really appreciate any info on the McIntoshes who settled in Cadiz, Kentucky. My
ggrandfather's name was George Marion McIntosh...whom I hear was a wee bit on the mean
side. He married a Lou Taylor (I'm not sure that's her real name...may be a nick name. He
had three sons...Hayden, Otto (my grandfather....who died in Illinois sometime in the
early 60's), and Bobby, all of which live(d) in East TN.)) There may be a fourth son, but
I don't know his name if there is. If you, or any of our many McIntosh clansmen have any
information concerning George Marion McIntosh and his ancestors I would be eternally
grateful! Thanks for the web site. Can't wait to visit again soon!
My Grandfather was John Gordon McIntosh. His family had moved to Canada from Scotland.
I found this web site while looking for a picture of the McIntosh family crest for my son

have answered many a question for me!
It's great to see such devotion to a great clan of people!
Our branch of the McIntosh clan goes back to when my grandfather settled at St. Thomas
Ontario and most of the descendents are still in the area of Sarnia or Forest Ontario. We
have a McIntosh reunion in London Ontario each summer. Occasionally it has been near
Forest Ontario.
I am an amateur genealogist who is helping my son-in-law, Scott McIntosh, try to trace
his McIntosh line back to Scotland. His gg grandfather was Duncan McIntosh, born about
1851 in Nova Scotia, possibly Argyle, Guysborough. He married Elizabeth McKay Kennedy who
was born about 1855 in Scotland. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who might be
connected. This is a great genealogy site--I know Scott is extremely proud to be a
McIntosh!
