Clan McIntosh |
My family name is Glennie, and we come from a town between
Aberdeen and Inverness in the Grampian Highlands called Tolafraic
(I'm not sure of the spelling.) Are you familiar with a town of
that name? THANKS FOR THE CLAN AND SEPTS INFO My Father's Mother was Blanche McIntosh (1899-1984). She
said we were related to Dode McIntosh of Oklahoma. I would like
to verify this and contact this gentleman, or his descendants.
Thank you for a wonderful home page. Greetings, clansmen. My grandfather Norman and his two
brothers Duncan and Andrew (I think) came to New Zealand in the
early 1900s. Andrew moved to Australia and we have lost touch
with that side of the family. Norman's mother also came to New
Zealand and set up a maternity hospital in the town of Methven.
If anyone has any information regarding the family, please email. Daughter of John Mackintosh, born in Inverness, March 1899,
lived in Winnipeg, Canada till death in 1973. Grandfather John
Mackintosh married to Hossak, any relatives out there? Some part
of the family emigrated to Peace River. Great to see the page,
would be interested in attending a gathering or reunion. Cheers,
Mhari Mother was, are we still tracing membership on the uterine
side? Love the sight! Want to know where I can get a phillemhor
in Old colours. Thanks! I became a member of the McIntosh family on October 26,
1996 when I married George and Miriam's wonderful son Richard F.
McIntosh. This is a great page! I have many relatives in WA and OR,
and they moved from MI, but I don't know the genealogy after
about 3 generations. I'll tell my Father Andrew IV, Uncle Rob,
and Aunt Mary about this page too! Wow!!! What a rich heritage!!!! Hi son. Your Dad and I finally looked at your Clan McIntosh
page... Real nice! I was born in Morrisburg, Ontario. I have a history of my
family from about 1811. It was put together by a lady in
Morrisburg. History is very important and I have quite a few old
pictures. Nice to know there is somewhere I can go to further
delve into the McIntosh family. I'm looking for more information on ggg-grandfather James
McIntosh born about 1804, Scotland. Married Elizabeth Powell in
1839 in Calhoun County, MI. May have come by way of Canada.
Thanks! Great site! Celia McIntosh born 1797 and died 1850. She married Josiah
Buskirk in 1835 in KY, and said to be the d/o Jacob McIntosh.
This Jacob would have been born in the 1700's. Anyone with
information on this Jacob, please e-mail me. Celia and Josiah
lived in Highland township of Greene Co., Indiana. Still
McIntosh's in that area, and I am related to them on the
Vandeventer side as well as the Buskirk side. Great site. Am descended from John McIntosh (1747-1821) through his
daughter Catherine who married Thomas Greenup. Was happy to find
this name on the Internet, as I have very little McIntosh

long after, after several years I was adopted. I know the only
family on my father's side still lives in Scotland. My father
died a few years ago, he lived in Arizona until his death. My
mother lives in California somewhere, she never kept in touch, I
never knew anyone from her family. I did meet my grandmother and
aunt on my father's side from Scotland once. I have talked to my

to try to find her again. Can anyone help? I was checking out the update of my Reunion software and
checked their links to people using their software. I found your

This is a great page! I am the descendant of George Esson 1776-1851 who left
Kincardine,Tulliallen Parish, Perthshire, Scotland in May 1820 to
come to Upper Canada (Ontario). Family has mostly stayed in
Ontario but am looking for other relatives. Would be pleased to
find any information on the "Esson's" in Scotland. It
seems that we helped make the McIntoshes what they are but
information on "Septs" is hard to find. The name Esson
has numerous spellings Esaon, Esson, Easson, Easton. etc. Any
Information on Esson Prior to 1820 or Esson's out of Onatrio
after 1820 would be welcome. Email me at mailto:
"resson@peterboro.net" PS: great page!! will be
checking back often. My father's four grandparents were all McIntosh's from
Columbiana County, Ohio. The four different lines settled there
between 1801-1830. They were from Invernesshire Scotland. This is so neat! My boyfriend is of the Clan MacIntosh on
his mother's side. How interesting to be able to find out some of
the history behind his ancestors. Thanks! I've tried back tracking but on my grandfathers birth

Dundee 1890 ish would have been when he was born - any pointers

three families in Valdosta and one in Hahira which is just a
couple of miles away. My grandfather has been tracing our
heritage back for a few years. Hey! Just got Internet service this week. What a great find!
You're doing a fantastic job, Todd. I am interested in possibly
doing some genealogical research on my branch of the McIntosh's.
We are descendants of John McIntosh of Scotland who was bound for
the southern USA in 1760 (approx.) when he was shipwrecked off
the coast of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The family settled on
the island originally, and gradually descendants have spread out
over the country all the way to Vancouver Island on the Pacific
Coast. This is a wonderful surprise! I'm new to the net and had no
idea that there were so many of us. Thanks. If you guys mail new
stuff please send. RKMCIV Hello to all McIntosh's world-wide! Has anyone done

grafix@bconnex.net I represent the "mixing" of cultures in this
clan. I have many family members who have passed away and the
only one alive who carries the name "McIntosh" by
marriage is my grandmother, Elizabeth, who is almost 83. She
recounted our history as far as she remembers but it would help
to know a little more. E-mail me if you can help! TOUCH NOT THE CAT, BOT A GLOVE !! Greetings from New
Brunswick, Canada !! My GGGG Grandfather, ALEXANDER MACINTOSH
(1733-1802),along with his wife Janet, emigrated from Inverness,
Scotland in 1776 to a place near Schenectady, along the Mohawk
River in New York. His youngest of 7 children, JOHN MACINTOSH
(b1777), emigrated to Iroquois, Ontario, Canada in 1796 and
married HANNA DORIN (1782-1857) and they eventually traded farms
with Hanna's brother in an area now known as Dundela, Ontario.
While clearing brush, John found about 20 small APPLE TREES which
he transplanted, however, 1 surpassed the others in flavor.
John's son ALLAN MACINTOSH (1815-1889) tended the tree and grew
new shoots from the seeds, but knew nothing of budding or
grafting. It is said that a unknown labourer on the MacIntosh
Farm showed Allan how to reproduce the variety successfully.
Allan who was also a circuit-riding lay preacher, filled his
saddlebags with these apples to give to his parishioners. Known
first as GRANNY'S APPLE (by visiting youth and grandchildren) the
MacIntosh Apple eventually became one of the world's most popular
varieties. Allan, in turn had 7 children including my GG
Grandfather EZRA MACINTOSH (1853-1924). His son ADEN MACINTOSH
(my grandfather) came to New Brunswick in 1914, and practiced
over 40 years as a country doctor in the Perth-Andover area until
his death in 1955. Many of his grandchildren remain in the area. This page is very interesting!!! My Great-grandmother's name was Bama McIntosh Adkison. Her
parents were William and Nancy McIntosh. I am interested in
finding the connection, if any, to Chief William McIntosh. I
would be interested to hear from anyone who might help me with
finding any of this line back further than Bama McIntosh Adkison.
I loved the page. I am really glad I thought to tell my
search engine to look under the clan name. Am a direct descendant of Chief William McIntosh and his
first wife, Eliza Grierson. Have been doing research on the
family this past year. Hi, Todd! Just stopping by to congratulate on your website

we lurkers with such an interesting site! Donna This is a pleasant surprise! I can't say I know all that
much about my McIntosh heritage, although I did write a paper on
the McIntosh charge at Culloden Moor in 1745 when I was in high
school. I also visited Moy Hall in Inverness for the Highland
Games in 1988 and met the Mackintosh (RIP). My great-uncle, J.
Rieman McIntosh, was very involved in the genealogy of our family
and the history of the clan. I must try to continue where he left
off. I am very interested in my Scottish roots. Beginning to research my ancestors. Have little

regarding the clans. We Clarke's of Savannah, GA have been unable
to decide which clan our affiliation lies with. We have family
ties with several well-known septs. If anyone has any information
on how to figure this out, please e-mail me. I have two children
of my own,2 sisters,1 nephew,both parents, an uncle,& many
cousins that are all Clarke's by birth. We do know that our
ascendants settled here in the early 1700's directly from
Scotland, but that's about as far as it goes. Thanks for the
info. I am curious about my origins and have never done any
research. Does anyone have some information that might help me? Great to see that there are many of us out there!! What an exciting find! I will follow the updates to see
what can be found about our ancestors. I will get other members
of the family, with more information, to sign on and provide
further updates. Looking for the family of Barbara McIntosh. She married
John Mitchell about 1830 and they had 8 children, all born in
Elgin Co., Ontario, Canada. Her father was Rev. Alexander
McIntosh. Barbara died in 1855 when her last child was about 5
years. old. This is all I know about Barbara. Can anyone help me? Hi I registered before, I've now changed email address and
moved address so Hello again. We are unaware of any history farther back than my
great-grandfather (he deserted the family in the Depression).
However, his name was Harry McIntosh of K.C., MO. We have
relatives in Phoenix by my great uncle. Theodore McIntosh was my
grandfather (recently deceased) and the rest of my family lives
in Springfield, Mo. Especially enjoyed the reunion minutes. Can't describe the
feeling I got reading about my mother, Margaret Helen McIntosh
entertaining at the reunion many years before I was born. This
last Christmas we returned home (first time about 8 years) and we
took our laptop and hooked up to the Internet to show her the
McIntosh page. For years she worked as a writer for newspapers in
the area and she always wrote articles of the family McIntosh
Reunions for those newspapers. She enjoyed your web site and
every thing she read seemed to remind her of stories that
happened back then. While her health is failing, her mind is
clear and her memory is excellent, and her stories are very
interesting. She sends her love and anyone who would like to
contact her can do so by writing Margaret Gray, Box 75,
Keosauqua, IA 52565 Glad to see so much interest in genealogy and family name
origination. I seem to be the only McCombs on the guest list.
Would be interested in hearing from anyone with info on the
relation of the McIntosh clan to my last name. I'm originally
from SLC, UT and would also like to hear from any McCombs from
there, to see if there's someone out there with info. Great page,
keep it up!! Enjoyed your web page. Keep up the good work. Glad to see
such interest in our name. My Grandfather is full blood Creek Indian and his mother's

Scot. they had Mary 1864, Margaret 1867, James 1869, Agnes 1872,

McIntosh family in Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia and
Scotland (Descendant of F.F. McIntosh (1850-1933)) As a McIntosh, I
celebrate my heritage by performing as the Drum Major of the
Prince George's County Police Pipe Band (Maryland). My Great-Grandmother was Eliza Jane McIntosh. I don't know
any other facts about that branch of my tree. The Ralphs fought under numerous clans during the tragic
defeat at Culloden battle-muir in 1746. I am the son of Robert Dennis McIntosh from Antigo, WI, and
grandson of Perry McIntosh from same. I am the son of Duncan McIntosh from Ossining, New York. My mother was a McIntosh, daughter of Edgar McIntosh and
great great granddaughter of a Captain Finlay McIntosh who was a
sea captain and eventually on Lake Erie. He had several sons and
there were a large number of descendants. My cousin is Dr Keith
Mcintosh in Simcoe, Ontario. I believe there were some McIntosh
in Denver who are descendants of Finlay. Real interested in following my roots all the way back,
could use all the help you can give me. thanks for the start. I married Shayne LaMonte McIntosh on 12/29/95. His father

Virginia. Thank you I enjoyed your page. Keep up the good work. How wonderful this was. Wow! I had no idea people were this interested in family

but my Great----Grandfather was Chief William McIntosh (Creek
Tribe). His father was a Captain McIntosh, his mother a Creek
squaw. If you know of a relationship with your clan, please let
me know. Thanks. My grandmother was a McIntosh from Illinois. I did not realize that the McIntoshs were in all 50 states.
It's very interesting to read the comments from so many of them.
My parents never discussed my heritage so I would have no idea on
where to begin. I never knew either of my Grandfathers.
Suggestions? I made an earlier statement, which I have since found out
was wrong. This is an update: I am a descendant of Duncan
McIntosh (1836 - 1915) who immigrated from Telecutry to New York
State, and from there, moved to Almont Ontario. He was married to
Isabelle Brambelle (1843-1925) and their children were Dan (b.
1868), Dave (b. 1870), John (b. 1872), William (b. 1874), Robert
(b. 1876), Walter (b. 1879) and Gordon (1884). It would be great

Illinois. If anyone out there is willing to assist me drop me a
line at my mailing address below. Likewise, I'd be more than
happy to help others in anyway I can. Thanks!! 11822 South 31st
Street Bellevue, NE 68123 My great-great grandfather was Washington L. (for Lafa, I
believe) McIntosh. He lived in Missouri in the late 1800's. I am
doing family searches trying to find his ancestors. It was great to find something on our family name on the
web. I've just begun to explore, so I hope to be able to find
more history in North America. I BELIEVE I AM RELATED TO THOMAS OR TASKER TOSH OF THE
ROANOKE VALLEY IN VIRGINIA. I HAVE LOST MY ROOTS PAST THEM. DOES
ANYONE HAVE INFO ON "TOSH". WHEN AND WHY DID IT CHANGE
FROM MACINTOSH. Glad to read your page. I'm a descendant of John Og
McIntosh who, I've been told, was taken captive in the
Revolutionary War and stayed...my more immediate family hails
from Southern Indiana. Any relations? Feel free to e-mail! Great site. My 3 times great-grandmother was a McIntosh.
She was born in Roxbourough Township, Ontario,CA. Her father was
Duncan McIntosh, his father was Richard McIntosh who was born
1807 in Williamtown, Glengarry, Ontario. Richards father was
Peter McIntosh who was married to Jane Fraser. Anyone else
associated with this family? My mother is Isabelle Ritchie, born in Inverallochy. Her
father was James Ritchie and mother was Helen McNair. Any
information on ancestors would be appreciated. I'm very pleased to see so many McIntoshes out there,
coming together. We are legion. My grandfather, William John McIntosh, was born in Almonte,
Ontario in 1885. His family originally came from Ballymena,
County Antrim, Northern Ireland. If this rings a bell with
anyone, I would appreciate hearing from you! Hello, My father told me that we are descendants of Clan
Mackintosh and I believe him, it's just he doesn't know for sure.
He believes that we are descendants of Ayers who are descendants
of McAyers. I was just wondering if you weren't too busy if you
could return E-Mail me with your thoughts on it. I would really
like to follow my roots but most of my family lineage is lost.
Any information would be great. I would appreciate anything that you might send. Thank you very much for this informative page. My great
grandmother was a McFall. I have recently discovered that this is
a sept of Clan MacIntosh and I have enjoyed learning more about
our clan. I have only been studying my Scottish heritage
extensively for about a year and would be grateful for any
information anyone could give me on finding out more about
Scottish culture. Thanks again and God bless! It's great to see so many people interested in their
genealogy. My family is as well. Good Luck! Thanks for this page. I would like to retain someone to do
some genealogical research on my McIntosh ancestors. Please
contact if qualified, experienced and interested. I have copy of letter from Margaret McIntosh (father Josia
McIntosh, grandfather, Dr. Peter McIntosh, grandmother Mary
Taylor, who was the daughter of Col. Josia William Taylor)
detailing genealogy and family history of ancestor Colonel Josia
William Taylor who married Princess Marie Brito of Portugal. I
will e-mail to anyone interested in this line. Col. Taylor came
to Canada in 1815 and died at Perth, Ontario. Very informative. Great page. (I wish the rest of the Shaw clan would get it
together and fix theirs.) My MacIntosh roots trace back to Bertha
the Longfoot. I'm sure there are more to find, but the genealogy
forums are far from accurate. Also in the line-up are William the
Conq. and Ulysses S. Grant. If you are related to either one, you
are probably related to me. There is a large Clan gathering in
Massachusetts this summer, maybe I'll see some of you there.
TTFN. This is a GREAT looking web site. You must be proud of your
hard work on it. If anyone knows of connections between Shaws,
Sacketts & Sackville, please let me know. I am a piper with the City of Thorold Pipe Band and wear
the hunting McIntosh tartan. My brother is a United Church
minister, Donald, and wears the clan tartan. This is an excellent website. I was born in Scotland, and I
have been working on a genealogy of McIntoshes originating in
Elgin, Morayshire, where I have NINE generations of direct
ancestors, and lists of siblings with birthdates. Contact me if
any interest (I'll probably be changing my email address soon,
but I'll post again. Slainte! Great Page! Looking for more info on Barbara McIntosh, b
ca1807, daughter of Rev. Alexander McIntosh. Barbara married John
Mitchell and together had 8 children, all born in Elgin Co.,
Ontario, Canada. Barbara died in 1855. Anything about this family
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for putting this together, Todd. I am very
interested in tracing my McIntosh heritage. I descend from
William McIntosh borne 1798 in Greene City, Ohio. I do not know
who his parents were or if he had any siblings. Would be
interested in corresponding with any one who has information on
this branch of the McIntosh Clan. I got lost! Looking for information preceding Charles Anderson
McIntosh, born 6/10/1832 In Weakley County, Tennessee, Died
1/24/1913 in Wright County, Missouri I can't wait to show my mom and dad this web site. They are
very interested in our roots. I am seeking family members descended from Josia McIntosh
(born 1841 in Castleford, Ontario) son of Peter McIntosh (born
1802, Perth, Scotland and buried in Glasgow Station, Ontario).
Josia married Mary Ryan (born 1851 in Perth, Canada) and I have
no information on her line. Any relatives out there with family
history information? Thanks so much for this page! |
